Pep Band is an important element of student culture and serves as a source of spirit that helps to unify our school community. Music for this ensemble is rehearsed during the school day. JAZZ ENSEMBLE Although Jazz Ensemble is a volunteer group, it is generally comprised of the best players from Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. The Jazz Ensemble rehearses Monday evenings and during 10th hour on Thursdays. The primary focus is placed on jazz styles and articulations, improvisation and performance. The Jazz Ensemble performs several times a year and usually travels to a few out of town festivals. ATTENDANCE Public performance is the life source of the band—as it is in all the performing arts. In essence, public performance serves as a vehicle for evaluation and is the culmination of a group effort which can only be created through the group experience. Therefore, participation at all performances is required. |
